Alasdair Roberts is a Scottish folk musician. He released a number of albums under the name Appendix Out, and following the 2001 album The Night is Advancing, under his own name.
Roberts was born in Swabia, Germany, to a German mother and Scottish father, though was raised in Kilmahog, a hamlet close to the small town of Callander, near Stirling in central Scotland. where he started playing the guitar and writing music. In 1994 he adopted the name ‘Appendix Out’ and started playing small venues. Well said, Purple Prince. One of the things I love about him is the way he mixes traditional song themes into his own material. His songs have the feel of coming from a mysterious historical world that only he knows about.

Have to disagree with you there Mr Dissonance. One of the highlights of the Green Man festival for me. I think he is one of very few of the new folk wave - or whatever you want to call it - who manage to convey a genuine sense of folk tradition. I think it's the lack of typical pop/rock persona and the absence of ego in the songs that puts a lot of people off when they see him live.

i'm with Will_Hall, live he was tedious enough nearly to make time stop. and if his songs are beautiful he was certainly doing a good job of camouflaging them to sound utterly nondescript.
