On Tour397,282 plays (52,529 listeners)
(1881 – 1945)
Bartók was born in Sânnicolau Mare/Nagyszentmiklós (Present day Romania). He is considered one of the greatest of 20th-century composers, and was also one of the founders of the field of ethnomusicology, the study and ethnography of folk music. This interest in and knowledge of traditional music, especially that of his own culture, had a great influence on many of his own compositions.

Brahms Beethoven Bartok and Bach are probably my favorite composers. I don't think anyone should say Brahms wasn't creative. Sure Bartok's compositions were very different, but as much as I hate to say it, I know what to expect when I hear a Bartok string quartet. Brahms could paint with amazing tone colors and was also still a Romantic composer, it's not fair to compare him to Bartok. Another point is Bartok admired Brahms. I think Brahms and Bartok are two of the greatest composers born in the 1800's. Maybe not the specific two but two of the greatest for sure. Brahms was amazing, please don't take his influence on Dvorak, Bartok, and all the other amazing composers away from him. And Bartok was one of the greatest geniuses to ever put pen to paper! He definitely deserves more recognition.

His 'String Quartets' are definitely some of the best music I've ever heard. Ever. I love Bartok, and need more of his works.
