  • Shamanic Technology - Doorways Album Release

    3 Oct 2008, 08:35 by cm1974

Shamanic Technology is the brainchild of Bournemouth based Chris Hare, a former Club DJ turned virtuosic Electronica whiz-kid. His debut record, Doorways. bears all of the hallmarks one has come to expect of Scotland’s Herb Recordings imprint. It’s fresh, exciting and distinctive. “Doorways” comprises 14 tracks in all, each designed with slide-rule precision without the hindrance such attention to detail often brings to the table.

    HERB007CD Shamanic Technology - Doorways
    Release Date - 19th January 2009
    Distribution - Cargo Records
    Label - Herb Recordings

Textures range from the sinister to the playful, with dynamic twists and euphoric turns occurring on a track by track basis. A lively tapestry of electronic pulses, vacuums of nostalgic synths, intricately placed found sounds and contemporary beatwork, finds Shamanic Technology bracketed by luminaries including Plaid, Boards of Canada and Bola – with particular emphasis placed on the anthemic quality of the latter.

Yet “Doorways” is undoubtedly the work of Shamanic Technology, Hare is no mere copyist. There’s an invigorating edge threaded throughout this record, one which finds it blooming into all sorts of wonderful directions. Glowing with melody and glistening with creativity, this record isn’t just fresh. It’s Herb Fresh….

    Tracklist

    1. Rites Of Passage
    2. Shamanic Technology (Floating in Ayahuasca)
    3. Ode To The Machine
    4. Strange Glass Feeling

  • HAI GAIZ :D

    30 Sep 2008, 15:39 by The_Night_Head

Well, there isn't much to tell really, I guess you could consider me gothic, I love Heavy Metal, Alternative, basically any kind of rock. If I don't like you, you'll be able to tell, trust me. The love of my life is Cadi, I love her with all of my soul, though sometimes I may not show it. If you talk bad about me and Cadi's relationship, I will not get pissed off, I'll just ignore you, as she most likely will too, it is none of your business, and you know it. I love the anime/manga Death Note, and that will never change, criticize me all you want, it will not change my passion. Light/Raito Yagami is my favorite character, you also will never change that. I also like Bleach, Naruto (Non-American, Fooly Cooly, and Cowboy Bebop, though I don't obsess over those like I do Death Note. I also love Vampires, Werewolves, and basically anything mythological. Drawing is another one of my likes, though I am a terrible artist. I'm a shy person, and I usually hate meeting new people, anti-social is a little strong of a word, but yes, I am :D

  • Moan #10: I HAS TV CHANNEL =P

    28 Sep 2008, 18:52 by volta1995

Yes, that wasn't a joke. For those of you who haven't heard of justin.tv, this is an amazing site which allows you to have your own tv channel. and i'm not talking about youtube channels. i'm talking about live broadcasting. i thought "hey! what better to spread the word than on last.fm, the world's greatest music site?"

well to cut to the chase (skipping the justin.tv ass kissing) my (well our) channel is called brickbats. when i say our, i mean my friend bat. i am brick. he's bat. i do music. he does gaming. we're also scouting newgrounds to screen TV series' and bands to do live webcasts. we broadcast on friday evenings (could extend to weekends by the end of the year).

    SCHEDULE
21:00-21:45 THE NOVA SHOW Nova is a teenager who usually has something random and/or interesting to say. He is Bat's brother. Nova has 45 minutes to do what the hell he wants (expect a lot of .gif tutorials). I've got a theory that the show will be centred around an almost lifecast theme, with a touch of how-to (his first broadcast is the upcoming friday)

22:00-23:00 BRICKBATSMOOSIX This is my show. So far, I've only had 2 shows, and I play a wide vary of things. I'll play heavy rock stuff, like King Crimson, Hella, Sonic Youth, At the Drive-In, Boredoms, or perhaps lighter folky stuff such as Fairport Convention, Afro Celt Sound System The Imagined Village, José González, Bellowhead, perhaps even funky soul/jazz stuff like James Brown, Jaga Jazzist, Esther Phillips, Miles Davis, Mahavishnu Orchestra, world music from the likes of Shakti, Buena Vista Social Club or Ali Hassan Kuban, electronic music from the likes of Aphex Twin, Boards of Canada, Four Tet, Squarepusher, and even if I really wanted to, I could pull out an old Steve Reich piece or a Johann Sebastian Bach prelude, or a bizarre Karlheinz Stockhausen sound collage - I try to stick to a certain area of music in every show, but on a wide scale, I could really play anything. I usually focus on experimental and cult music, but I will accept requests.... sensible requests, at least.

23:15-whenever LOL ATM lol atm is a gaming show where my good friend Bat goes on a tour of first-person shooters, and sometimes even screens machinima films. Almost a lifecast, in the style of a gamer.

We are also recruiting others. Please, contact as soon as possible if you would like to broadcast on Brickbats. Or, even better, come and watch us every Friday evenings!

  • Com. stampa Am I scared?

    22 Sep 2008, 12:15 by gagge

“Am I scared?”

(Finegarten)

WAY less Fear Before plays for the year.
A Skylit Drive, again, is high up there. Guilty pleasure, I swear.

If I actually count legit plays, which to me is minimum of 30, it comes out to 67 artists, which is due to the constant repeat of albums and songs on my ipod, and always being behind on getting new music/too lazy to get new stuff. haha
    Repeated tracks:
1 Secret And Whisper – You Are Familiar 221
2 Lil' Wayne – Lollipop (feat. Static Major) 128
3 Owl City – The Saltwater Room 121
    4 Breathe Carolina – Lovely 119
    5 Breathe Carolina – Gossip 113
    6 Lil' Wayne – Got Money (feat. T-Pain) 108
7 Breathe Carolina – The Birds And The Bees 101
    8 Breathe Carolina – diamonds 99
8 Breathe Carolina – Put Some Clothes On 99
    10 A Skylit Drive – Eris and Dysnomia 95
    Yeahhhhh. Freak.

    11608 total plays. +the hundreds more I didn't scrobble.
