Boyzone were an Irish boy band (pop group) of the 1990s. They had major success in the UK and levels of success in parts of Europe and Asia with six #1 hit singles in the UK. Boyzone had sold over 10 million records when they parted ways in 2000.
Boyzone opened the door for Westlife. They have never officially split, but they have not released a single since 1999. Ronan Keating has made a career from going solo and has released five albums. Stephen Gately has been involved in the West End and has starred in the Andrew Lloyd Webber play, “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat”. He is now also a theatre actor. Mikey Graham has been involved with some solo projects also and now works as a music producer. Keith Duffy has been involved with the British Soap “Coronation Street” as well as a number of theatre productions in Ireland and Shane Lynch recently appeared on the Reality TV Show, “Celebrity Love Island”.Rumours were rife in 2003 of a Boyzone reunion. However, recent news reports have said that all 5 members and their manager, The X factor Judge Louis Walsh, met up at the start of 2007 to discuss and organise a comeback tour, whilst all of them were staying in Dublin.
In February 2007, more details of their reunion were announced, after the success Take That’s comeback tour, also Universal records artists.
They are back now, and will be reuniting by playing at BBC’s Children, where they will perform a medley of old songs.
The band fell apart due to a feud between lead singer Ronan Keating and former manager and X Factor star Louis Walsh.
But now, Keating has buried the hatchet with Walsh, by announcing the comeback.
