Worksop, Nottinghamshire, England (1976 – present)

Bruce Dickinson (born Paul Bruce Dickinson, August 7, 1958 in Worksop, Nottinghamshire, England) is the lead singer of band Iron Maiden.

Previous to Iron Maiden he was a member of Styx (1976) (not to be confused with the American band of the same name), then went on to sing for Speed (1977 - 1978). When Speed split up, he joined Shots, leaving in the summer of 1979 to join Samson. In 1981 he was approached by Steve Harris and Rod Smallwood and asked to audition for Iron Maiden. In the audition, he sang the songs PlayRemember Tomorrow and PlayTwilight Zone. His performance immediately gave him the job.

He made his recording debut with Iron Maiden on their Number of the Beast album in 1982.
Dickinson quit Iron Maiden in 1993 in order to pursue his solo career, but rejoined the band in 1999 along with guitarist Adrian Smith. Both are still in the band to date.

In 2005 he decided to record one more solo album. Though Adrian Smith wasn’t in the band, guitars were recorded by Roy Z. Also additional musicians were invited. The album released was called ’A Tyranny of Souls’ and was in the spirit of the Accident of Birth album released in 1997.
