Dappled Cities Fly (a.k.a. Dappled Cities) is a five-piece indie-rock band from Sydney, Australia. The members include Hugh Boyce (Drums), Ned Cooke (keyboard, sampler), Tim Derricourt (guitar, vocals), Alex Moore (Bass), and Dave Rennick (guitars, vocals, keyboard). Dappled Cities Fly had several early singles and EP releases that were well received and played widely on Australian radio. Their first album, A Smile, was released in late 2004 and was heralded by much of the press in Sydney and various other media.

Dappled Cities Fly released their second album, Granddance, in November of 2006. The cover art is noteworthy due to the band’s name as just “Dappled Cities”, minus the word “Fly”. Tim Derricourt has explained to the press though that this change was done for artistic reasons and is not an official name change for the band. - Wiki.

Yes, I also think that Granddance pales into insignificance compared to A Smile. I just think the songs are much better on A Smile. Granddance is a bit more fancy and sparkly sounding, but I think with the exception of a few, it lacks really solid songs. Technically yes. But I'm debating to play older as Dappled Cities now as well. It's still bothering me though, what's with all my old scrobbles for my favourite song of theirs? Oh well, I think too much about last fm.

I guess they've dropped the Fly officially now. This has been posted on their website: We've become accustomed to calling ourselves 'Dappled Cities' and swallowing the 'Fly'. Please don't be mad - laziness can be a virtue. Time to retag I suppose. I've had older songs with Fly so far and only the new album without, been bothering me ever since because of the split scrobbles...
