Nobody has ever done this song better than Jimi Hendrix. Love the cover though, it's good.

Either way this is the best version I know of this song, with all due respect to Stevie and Jimi. And the vocals totally beat Jimi's. But I will take a look at Vai's and Satriani's.

About who is playing lead on this track... I'm quite sure it's Eric Clapton, and not Duane Allman on lead. You can clearly hear Allman's Gibson Les Paul doing the solo on "Have You Ever Loved a Woman". That's the distinctive Les Paul sound. And the lead on this track doesn't have that sound. Eric Clapton used a Fender Stratocaster on this album, and because Strat's don't have that distinctive sound that Les Paul's have, I can't really tell whether the lead on this track is a Strat or not. But, unless Allman used some really weird effects I'm quite sure it's not a Les Paul, so that means it has to be a Strat. :) Well, of course it's also possible that they switched guitars, but it's not like Clapton have anything to prove anyway. We all know that he's god, I mean good.

The Satch/Vai version doesn't hold a candle to this one.

Not usually wild about about covers, especially for a masterpiece like Little Wing, but this is an exception. This album in my opinion was the peak for Clapton.

Are we sure that Clapton was playing the lead on this one? I'm guessing he probably was, but it still seems possible that the main lead throughout the song was played by Allman, especially since the other lead in the song sounds like the tone that Clapton used a lot on the rest of hte album.
