Dustin Kensrue

Although Thrice is not considered a Christian band, Kensrue himself is a Christian. Some of his lyrics are inspired by Christian morals and their place in society today, with Kensrue drawing much lyrical inspiration from the 20th century author C.S. Lewis, who penned the well-known Chronicles Of Narnia books and countless books on Christianity. He has a tattoo on his left wrist which is a passage from the bible written in Hebrew.
Kensrue, Teranishi and the Breckenridge brothers have toured the U.S. opening for My Chemical Romance, fronted by Kensrue’s close friend, Gerard Way, and in the U.K. Thrice played a VS Tour with prog-rockers Coheed and Cambria, fronted by another of Dustin’s friends, Claudio Sanchez. They have also played alongside The Used and Thursday, both of which Kensrue has mentioned having greatly enjoyed touring with.
Dustin also has a solo acoustic side project under his own name. He had toured in past years on his own under the moniker “Ursus Veritas”, but decided to drop the name in favor of simplicity since “people have enough trouble just pronouncing last name to begin with.” The name was a play-on-words of its Latin components: Ursus meaning bear, and Veritas meaning truth. Kensrue has been quoted as saying there is no real special significance to the name, other than he likes bears, and thought it sounded cool.

Dustin is a lyrical genius, if you listen to every song they all have a pure message, and to get such lyrics with such a great sound behind it just gives promise for the future. Really do hope we hear more solo work from him, although a major fan of Thrice, his solo work has something else to it

Seen him twice solo. Once in June 2006, and once in June 2007. Both of these times he's not only played fantastic, but he's sat down, and chatted with fans, and been such an awesome guy. I really respect him, and love his music.

such a good album. full of biblical allusions, but not in an importunate way. good lyrics, strong voice. I am not christian myself, but I can fully relate to his doubts whether God is real or not.

I definately don't agree with hurricane_xX. We need a Thrice tour in the UK/Europe damnit! But yeah, after Thrice have that done, Dustin should do a solo tour, this is good stuff.
