Free is the name of three bands found on last.fm (at least) one of which being a British band from the 60’s, another being a Japanese band from the 90’s and the last one being a female rapper from the US.

Free was a British R&B-style rock band which formed in London in 1968. The band were famed for their sensational live shows and nonstop touring although their early studio albums sold slowly until the release of Fire and Water, which contains their most popular song

All Right Now.

This song helped secure them a place at the huge Isle of Wight Festival 1970 where they played to 600,000 people. As surviving band members ruefully admit, personal problems got in the way and they broke up on the brink of something big, perhaps never realising their true potential.

Lead singer Paul Rodgers went on to become lead singer of the rock band Bad Company along with Simon Kirke on drums. Rodgers is now the successor of Freddie Mercury in operatic rock quartet Queen. Paul Kossoff, the hugely talented and much-revered lead guitarist (son of British religious broadcaster David Kossoff), died tragically from drug-induced heart failure in 1976, aged 25.

Free is a female rapper from the US. Hasn’t released any albums yet but known from TV.

Free was more than just Alright Now. Songs like the Stealer, Fire and Water and Mr. Big are amazing! The "lead" bass of Andy Fraser with the rock solid drumming of Simon Kirke gave the band a unique drive. The combination was just perfect.

Most consider 'All right now' as their best song (at least in the Fire and Water album) but in my opinion Fire and Water is better:) However, they're awesome anyway!
