I agree with boysetsdavies, the best thing about FFAF was the guitars, which are now much more simplistic and not even the same sort of style. Aside from that, the new album just sounds really formulaic and unoriginal.

After one listen it feels like TDTT that is missing something. Gonna give it more listens though

new album is plainly boring

Explain how I'm expecting too much from FFAF? Sorry, but the last 2 albums have been watered down musically. TDTT had a good dynamic to it, M&H lacks even that. The texture of the guitar parts on both albums is simplified. Maybe it's because I got into them through 4 ways... but listen to Hospitality or Recovery. It's what attracted me to FFAF.

Sure their earlier work most people prefer (including me), you've got to respect for moving on and changing though. If you ask me as well their new album sounds far better than tales, not half the let down i was expecting it to be. (Buildings = ownage)

after the last album i hoped for something good, what a letdown that m&h is far from good..Big waste of such a talented band, at least I hoped they were..

also, i LOVE Tales

i'm so dissapointed. memory & humanity is in the same key as tales.., but without a strong story, message or concept. the bunch of songs are filler (ffaf's filler songs? wtf?), the bunch are not catchy enough. yes, i will love this album, i'll give it a time, but i think this is a signal to letdown

i like the new one. i had really high expectations by judging the singles (which i really liked), and at first i was a bit disappointed. but after a few listens i've gotten to know the songs and I like them.

I meant that some people seem to judging their last couple of albums on the basis that they aren't completely the same as the previous ones, as opposed to whether or not they're actually better or worse. I'd say that, for what they are, the last couple of albums aren't that much worse than Casually and the EPs. Definitely better than Hours. But that's just me. It is a bit early to write off the new album anyway as there isn't a CD quality rip online, as far as I can tell at least.

There earlier work is clearly better.

It's just like the reaction to TDTT all over again really. Some people seem a bit hung up over their earlier work.

I really dig the new album o.o Far far better than Tales and Hours. Amazed at how many people don't like it.

'everyone expects too much.' - you're so damn right. everyone expected the best album ever, but it was impossible for guys to record anything better at this moment, in my opinion. album maybe isn't the best of them, but you can still enjoy it.
