Glen Hansard (frontman of The Frames) and Czech singer and pianist Markéta Irglová released their first album, The Swell Season, in Ireland in April 2006 - a collection of delicate, moving piano-led ballads, with wonderful cello and violin sounds. Hansard and Markéta starred in the film ‘Once’ by writer/director John Carney (a former bass player of The Frames). Many songs of The Swell Season are used in this film, that has won the World Cinema Audience Award at Sundance 2007. For more info: http://www.myspace.com/oncethemovie

Hansard and Irglová recently received an Oscar for their original song “Falling Slowly” from ‘Once.’

saw them in royal oak, michigan... the concert was amazing and i even got to meet them before the show!!! only problem was there were SO MANY rude people in the crowd talking and being disrespectful and glen was pissed!!!
