About this track
“Sweet Child o’ Mine” is a song by the hard rock band Guns N’ Roses. It was released on their debut album Appetite for Destruction on July 21, 1987. “Sweet Child o’ Mine” was Guns N’ Roses’ first and, to date, only number-one single on the Billboard Hot 100, spending two weeks at the top spot in September 1988. In May 2008, the song was voted as #210 on the RIAA’s list of the best songs of the 20th century.

Sure, we’ve all heard it hundreds of times and a great many of us will look for something different on the radio station when it comes on but “sweet child” is one of the best power ballads of all time. With that being said (let the stoning begin), I’m kinda torn about this love affair many have with Slash. Sure, he’s a great guitarist but still does he really deserve all the accolades? Take a minute, listen to some Robert Johnson or some Lighting Hopkins and then listen to Slash’s stuff again.
