Joe Purdy is a North American based folk singer-songwriter. He has currently released nine albums to date: his self titled debut, Sessions from Motor Ave., Stompingrounds, Julie Blue, Only Four Seasons, You Can Tell Georgia, and Paris in the Morning, Canyon Joe, and Take My Blanket and Go. All of his albums are available for free listening on his homepage. His song, ‘Wash Away (Reprise)’, was featured on the hit ABC TV series, Lost, while Grey’s Anatomy additionally featured ‘I Love the Rain the Most,’ ‘The City,’ ‘Far Away Blues,’ and ‘Suitcase.’

Joe Purdy’s band members include: Brian Wright, Willy C. Golden, Deacon, Al Sgro, and Mike “Papa” Freas.

Joe’s Narrative:

Have you ever been hooked on the narrative of a conversation that you weren’t supposed to hear? That is just one of the things you might feel when listening to the music of singer/songwriter Joe Purdy. As he reflects on a memory of an angry moment, or a stolen kiss, his voice becomes startlingly intimate — you can practically feel his breath on your ear. His sweet, folk- flavored melodies, coupled with the warm tones of an old Gibson guitar, is enough to make an audience blush.

Born and raised in bluegrass country — Fayetteville, Arkansas — Purdy fast developed an appreciation for music. Listening to Sam Cooke, Otis Redding, Buddy Holly, and pretty much anything playing on the oldies station.

But it was a more contemporary artist that first truly impressed on Purdy the power of songwriting.

I recently saw him in london at the shitest organised festival I have ever been to, but he was amazing and even as an australian I would have much prefered to have him on the main stage blasting out the sound and drowning out powderfinger anyday!!! he is absolutely lovely...
