John Hiatt
On Tour571,002 plays (60,052 listeners)
While he was growing up in his hometown of Indianapolis, IN, John Hiatt played in a number of garage bands. Initially, he was inspired by the Rolling Stones and Bob Dylan, and the music of those two artists would echo strongly throughout his work. Out of all the bar bands he played with in the late ’60s, a group called the White Ducks was the one that received the most attention. Following his high-school graduation, he moved to Nashville at the age of 18, where he landed a job as a songwriter for Tree Publishing. For the next several years, he wrote and performed at local clubs and hotels.

Have to agree on the profile picture -not that it matters, but this is just a grey blob with a guitar. Another three or so votes on the runner up, and we've got ourselves a better picture.

I'm glad to see others appreciate John Hiatt as much as I do. I met the man when I was 7, still have the autographed poster on my wall. Very talented musician, who I hope stays under the radar. I don't want commercialism to fuck him up. :(

I attended his Nov 4 show, and it was awesome. It was my first encounter with John live, and I was blown away. That man can play! And the fact that he was solo made it all the lot better. I took my boyfriend with me, because we had an extra ticket, and he never even heard of John Hiatt, but he said it was the best thing he has ever seen, and he is totally hooked. It's the greatest thing, really :)

Stolen Moments is my fave album by him or just about anybody, for that matter. It was released in 1987 btw.

So here's the deal: I got a ticket to his Nov 4th show as a present, and even though I'm already familiar with Bring the Family, what are other key albums that I need to listen to in preparation for the show? I was at the CD store today but I didn't know which albums to buy :)
Including Sonny Landreth, Bonnie Raitt, Los Lobos, Steve Earle, John Prine and more…
