What a great way to kick this off. No thought required!

    --------------------

You know the drill, iTunes on shuffle, each song answers the question, no cheating.

Opening Credits: PlaySmall Town - John Mellencamp
Well, yes. Spent my first years of life on a farm in a beautiful part of NZ. :)

Waking Up: PlayNot Only Human - Heather Nova
    Awh! That almost sentimentally fits.

First Day At School: PlayThe Last Laugh - Mark Knopfler
Meaning that I was being laughed at? Possibly. Or... that I'm now superior to everyone who laughed at me? Hmmmm... *grins*

Falling In Love: PlayShelter - Ray LaMontagne
Damn, I hope so. It's a beautiful song, full of hope: "Everything I have to give, I give to you."

Fight Song: PlayBelfast (Penguins and Cats) - Katie Melua
Yes! Other than the languid soundtrack, this battle would all go my way. I defy you to overcome my penguin army!

Breaking Up: PlayLoch Lomond - Runrig
A more abstract link required here - ah, but fate intervenes. She obviously knows this song better than me. ^^ Lyrics: "Too sad we parted in yon shady glen, where the broken heart knows no second spring; where me and my true love will never meet again, on the bonnie, bonnie banks of Loch Lomond."

Prom: PlayNe me quitte pas - Florent Pagny
*nods* A very romantic (and heart-breaking) song.

Life: PlaySweet lullaby - Deep Forest
The important one - and I get this! The forces like me today. :D Soft, uplifting, instrumental and utterly gorgeous.

Mental Breakdown: PlayKeeper Of The Stars - Tracy Byrd
So Mr. Country Singer presides over my mental breakdown. Is this apt? Perhaps I having delusions of angels, or claiming that all the good things in my life are the work of a celestial being.

    Driving: PlayPixies Dance - Korpiklaani
*grins* Driving to this would be a safety hazard, for sure. The poor, frenetic pixies!

Flashback: You, Always You - Patrice
Who is this person? *mock-suspiscious look* Late-night adding again - but he's good, and the title fits. :)

Getting Back Together: PlaySealed With A Kiss - Bobby Vinton
Now that's odd. If I had just a little less faith in logic... but I don't. Gotta love coincidences!

    Wedding: PlayHymnody - Amethystium
Wonderful! What an ethereal day that would be. I could go all girly on you here, but shall stop myself.

Birth of Child: PlayByzantium - Cusco
*bursts out laughing* I was a bit lost at how to connect this song, as it's very gentle and soothing - but then it suddenly cut off. Perfect!

Final Battle: PlayMachu Picchu - Medwyn Goodall
Drat. Because I'm not cheating, I'd like to find a link... Somehow. (It is one of my favourite songs, though.) Perhaps - but no, it's too laid-back for a battle. Shuffle's had a bit of a new age bias lately. ^^

Death Scene: PlayOne Man's Dream - Yanni
What is this? More instrumentals? *outrage* It would be suitably emotive, however... Mmm, maybe I could see myself dying to this.

Funeral Song: PlayReturn To Innocence - Enigma
That's far too appropriate to be angry at, but I was sure there was more than (beautiful, life-affirming) new age music in my library. Perhaps my life will simply be like this... Not that that's a bad thing. ^^

End Credits: PlayGive Me Some More - Candy Dulfer
    Damn right!

  • 50 questions about my top 50 artists.

    22 Aug 2008, 13:03 by ViolentMaureen

    1. How did you get into 29? (A Fine Frenzy)

It was a couple of months ago. I was browsing on last.fm, going through similar artists and came accross her. The first song I listened to was You Picked Me. I adored the lyrics since I associated them with someone and so I was hooked.

    2. What was the first song you ever heard by 22? (Rosie Thomas)

I believe that it was the song Songbird/Kite Song. Firstly I found the lyrics, and I read through them all. I figured that such poetic language can only be accompanied by magical music and hopefully voice, and I was right.

    3. What’s your favorite lyric by 33? (James Blunt)

No specific lyrics come to mind. Though I used to constantly listen to You're Beautiful. And I started again not long ago, since I (yet again) used to use that phrase when addressing someone I deeply care for.

    4. What is your favorite album by 49? (Madeleine Peyroux)

Oh I don't know the name. I had two, but I ended up giving them away. Though I still catch myself hum the song Careless Love.

    5. How many albums by 13 do you own? (Belanova)

I own the latest one, however I will buy their first. I am a true fan and I will therefore behave like one.

    6. What is your favorite song by 50? (Ratatat)

    I love the song Montanita.

    7. Is there a song by 39 that makes you sad? (Bijelo Dugme)

Not really. They have a couple of ballads, but I rarely listen to those.

    8. What is your favorite album by 15? (Within Temptation)

I would probably state that I like The Silent Force the most. But their new album isn't far behind either.

    9. What is your favorite song by 5? (Yann Tiersen)

Wow, now this is difficult. I adore the song Le Matin and Sur Le Fil. La Noyeé is also one of my huge favorites. What can I say? Yann is a genius.

    10. Is there a song by 6 that makes you happy? (Gogol Bordello)

Yes. The majority of their songs to be honest. However there are two in particular that make me want to shake it, lol. Wonderlust King and Start Wearing Purple

    11. What is your favorite album by 40? (Amy Winehouse)

    Back to Black, deluxe edition.

    12. What is your favorite song by 10? (Ingrid Michaelson)

Ah! These sort of questions are hard. How can a person have only one favorite song?! Well, Morning Lullabies and Corner of Your Heart are personal favorites.

    13. What is a good memory you have involving 30? (Clap Your Hands Say Yeah!)

Thinking that it is destiny for me and my friend to have found them. Lol. No, I don't know. I don't have anything in particular linked to them.

    14. What is your favorite song by 38? (Priscilla Ahn)

A Good Day (Morning Song). I don't listen to her anymore, but that song did stick for a while.

    15. Is there a song by 19 that makes you happy? (Joshua Radin)

Yes. Lovely Tonight, Only You, Closer. Actually, Josh himself makes me happy. Now, to him I have linked memories, hence why his music has such an effect. I will never forget who introduced me to his music and how.

    16. How many times have you seen 25 live? (Severina)

None, though I would love to. I have heard she is energetic and fun on stage.

    17. What is the first song you ever heard by 23? (Katie Melua)

Spider's Web. I adored that song and so bought her albums. Since then, I am a fan.

    18. What is your favorite album by 11? (The Darkness)

Probably One Way Ticket to Hell... and Back.

    19. Who is a favorite member of 1? (Flogging Molly)

Politically correct answer is in order, so I shall answer: I love them all. Lol.

    20. Have you ever seen 14 live? (System of a Down)

    No. [sobs]

    21. What is a good memory involving 27? (ABBA)

Rocking out to them with my friends. Yes, I do realize the irony: rocking out to ABBA. No, but there are some really good memories linked to them and I don't want to share. It's going to be my secret, shhh. Aren't I mysterious? Lol.

    22. What is your favorite song by 16? (Amaral)

    None. One day. One day.

I love Once. Yes, you heard me.

    34. What is the worst song by 45? (Alaska In Winter)

Oh, oh, oh. My Regin-a, Regin-a, Regin-a-ah, ah ah. Yeah, you are right, it is way too hard to decide. What can I say? She is brilliant and that is reflected in her music.

NOTE - My most played artist isn't necessarily my all-time favourite, for example I love Muse and The Killers but I don't many of their songs on here because they're on my MP3. And I only like one TLC song but that one song has got them amongst my top artists. Equally, Coldplay and David Bowie would be much higher.
On that note, I shall continue...

1.] How did you get into 29?
    Bon Jovi
Upon hearing PlayLivin' on a Prayer on Q radio. It was a great moment.

[2.] What was the first song you ever heard by 22?
    Sara Bareilles
PlayLove Song, obviously. I think the same would go for most people.

    [3.] What’s your favorite lyric by 33?
    Kim Wilde
Funnily enough - "I sit here alone and I wonder why" in [track artist=Kim Wilde]Kids In America ... Not sure why though.

[4.] What is your favorite album by 49?
    Oasis
(What's the Story) Morning Glory? was I think their best. But they're all awesome.

[5.] How many albums by 13 do you own?
    Stereophonics
Just one - Language. Sex. Violence. Other?

[6.] What is your favorite song by 50?
    Maroon 5
The old classic PlayShe Will Be Loved. I love it.

[7.] Is there a song by 39 that makes you sad?
    The Kinks
    Not really actually!

[8.] What is your favorite album by 15?
    Weezer
Weezer - The Red Album, since it's the only one I've listened to so far.

[9.] What is your favorite song by 5?
    TLC
PlayWaterfalls, as I say - the only one I like!

[10.] Is there a song by 6 that makes you happy?
    Patti Smith
PlayBecause the Night doesn't often fail

[11.] What is your favorite album by 40?
    Keane
Oh lord, that's hard... but Hopes and Fears gets it.

[12.] What is your favorite song by 10?
    The Ting Tings
    PlayGreat DJ

[13.] What is a good memory you have involving 30?
    Damien Rice
Well... his songs remind me of a wonderful period of time. Especially PlayCannonball and PlayThe Blowers Daughter.

    hailey wojcik
    PlayDinosaur Bone

    Guns N' Roses
Sweet Child O Mine makes me very close to ecstatic. It's amazing.

Never. I'm not actually a huge huge fan of her so I probably won't - again, this is just the most played.

    David Bowie
PlayChanges, in my Year 6 classroom. Happy memories.

    Faith Hill
    The Way You Love Me

[19.] Who is a favorite member of 1?

    Shania Twain
No, but I might want to.

  • Songs an einem Sommerabend II – Katie Melua rockte den Freistaat

    11 Aug 2008, 01:02 by daveshine

Mi., 6. Aug. – Katie Melua, Mathias Kellner

(For English-speaking users: this is just a German concert review from Katie's show in Leipzig, Germany, on August 6th 2008.)

Songs an einem Sommerabend II – Katie Melua rockte den Freistaat

(Leipzig.)

If You Were A Sailboat“ gesichtet), sondern farbige Lichtstimmungen.
