Leftfield
2,222,910 plays (272,248 listeners)
London, England (1989 – 2002)
Their downtempo music style has inspired a genre which has been recognised as simply leftfield, with several charts appearing in magazines such as DJ magazine and Mixmag. The genre is also known as chillout.
Appearing in massive live arenas like The Block and Glastonbury, the duo showed to its fans that their music was as strong as their sound system. Their infusion has created a splinter group inside the ardent house and dub genre followers. Prior to Leftfield, no one attempted their kind of fusion and after their innovative sounds the world of electronica was compelled to blur the lines further. Hence we have seen a strong movement toward more experimentalism from every side of the wall. Tastemakers and opinion swayers adopted Leftfield as their sign of rebellion to the norm and to sum it all Leftfield themseleves signify that very rebellion.
Leftfield produced just two well-received albums, Leftism and Rhythm And Stealth, before disbanding in 2002.

They have no peer and no "similar artists." They are the definition of good electronica, it's a shame they are no more.

the vocals are from johnny rotten of the sex pistols or public image ltd. He is a legend - a music heavyweight. with a concert in the free trade hall in manchester in the late 70s they inspired a music revolution which influenced the musical developement in the whole world during the eighties, nineties and nowadays. music legends as joy division, new order, the whole madchester (manchester rave) movement began to roll because of the concert. beside that the vocals fit perfectly to that track and its still fresh and unique to have such a punkish voice in an elektronika track meanwhile other similar acts stuck an the usual afro based 'ah yeah everybody clap your hands' samples...

The "instrumental" part is great, but the voice in this track is terrible, imho. Anyone know of a Rob Zomie type remix?
