London, England (1989 – 2002)

Leftfield were a of artists and record producers, Paul Daley (formerly of A Man Called Adam and the The Brand New Heavies) and Neil Barnes, formed in 1989 in London, England. The pair were pioneers in the fields of intelligent music (), pioneering the fusion of music with and . They furthermore were among the first electronic musicians to incorporate live guest vocalists, along with The Chemical Brothers.

Their music style has inspired a genre which has been recognised as simply , with several charts appearing in magazines such as DJ magazine and Mixmag. The genre is also known as .

Appearing in massive live arenas like The Block and Glastonbury, the duo showed to its fans that their music was as strong as their sound system. Their infusion has created a splinter group inside the ardent house and dub genre followers. Leftfield produced just two well-received albums, Leftism and Rhythm And Stealth, before disbanding in 2002.
