Recommend me some good Experimental/post punk/ noise rock bands
26 Jun 2008, 23:39, by Bachmann3
I'm looking for some good wierd music.
Out of the blue ridiculous (I hate to use this false genre term) "Indie" bands that are worth listening to.
It needs a singer, no instrumental stuff.
I'd also appreciate some heavier recommendations, whether it been post-hardcore or noise, as long as it's different and not like anything else I've ever heard.

Menomena
1. How did you get into 31?
Menomena--I'm pretty sure I heard about them when I was all Radiohead-crazy and heard their debut sounded like Radiohead so I checked em out. I think at the time I was still a loser so I didn't like it, but I ended up buying Friend And Foe later and I love it.
2. What was the first song you ever heard by 22?
Animal Collective--Peacebone. Thanks, Kait (electricalbride).
3. What's your favourite lyric by 29?
June of 44--Pale Horse Sailor: PORT AND BOW. STERN AND STARBOARD.
4. What is your favourite album by 49?
The Mars Volta--Easily De-Loused in the Comatorium. None of their later work even compares (though Frances the Mute is pretty damn good too).
5. How many albums by 13 do you own?
Radiohead--Oh boy. Let's see...seven LPs, three EPs, a live album, and a collection of various B-sides that I've downloaded. LET'S LIST THEM ALL IN CHRONOLOGICAL ORDER!
-Pablo Honey (yuck)
-My Iron Lung (EP)
-The Bends
-OK Computer
-Airbag / How Am I Driving? (EP)
-Kid A
-Amnesiac
-I Might Be Wrong (Live)
-Hail to the Thief
-Com Lag (EP...wish they had it listed as COM LAG (2plus2isfive). losers.)
-In Rainbows (YEAHHH BOUGHT THE $80 BOXSET BABY. FANBOYYYYY)
6. What is your favourite song by 50?
Aereogramme--Um, I'm sure I'd like their older stuff more because apparently it's a little heavier but since I only own My Heart Has A Wish That You Would Not Go, I'll say Nightmares.
7. Is there a song by 4 that makes you sad?
mclusky--Nope.
8. What is your favourite song by 15?
Cardiacs--To Go Off And Things: TAKE IT, SARAH!!
9. What is your favourite song by 5?
Aphex Twin--4. It's the quintessential Aphex Twin track, honestly.
10. Is there a song by 6 that makes you happy?
Beck--Oh, loads! Every song from Midnite Vultures makes me want to dance, but Cyanide Breath Mint is a fantastic sing-a-long track. There are too many songs by him that make me happy to list here, on da realllllll.
11. What is your favourite album by 40?
Black Eyes--Gotta give it to their self-titled: Black Eyes. Thanks again, Kait!
12. What is your favourite song by 12?
Queens of the Stone Age--Oooh, that's a tough one. I think I'd have to say A Song for the Deaf. Fucking killer guitar on that one.
13. What is a good memory you have involving 33?
Mogwai--Well I'm just glad I picked up Mr. Beast, otherwise I probably wouldn't have gotten into the whole post-rock scene. Thanks, Mogwai!
14. What is your favourite song by 37?
A Silver Mt. Zion--OOOH. EASY. Babylon Was Built On Fire/Starsnostars. Best "bad" singing you will ever hear in your entire fucking life.
15. Is there a song by 19 that makes you happy?
This Heat--Health and Efficiency! Happiest song you will ever hear by This Heat, hahaha
16. How many times have you seen 24 live?
Boards of Canada--Man, if they do a live show I'd love to see it.
17. What is the first song you ever heard by 17?
Tera Melos--40 rods to the hog's head. Mindblowing.
18. What is your favourite album by 11?
Me and Him Call It Us--Well all I have is Loss, so I guess that's my favorite! Great album.
19. Who is a favourite member of 1?
Daughters--Alexis. Giving inspiration to (or taking inspiration from?) drunk southern preachers everywhere.
20. Have you ever seen 14 live?
Busta Rhymes--NO BUT HOW AWESOME WOULD THAT BE
21. What is a good memory involving 21?
Godspeed You! Black Emperor--When I bought Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas to Heaven, I had no idea what I was getting into. Storm blew me away. I had never heard anything like it in my entire life. I still haven't.
22. What is your favourite song by 16?
Battles--SZ2. SO EPIC.
23. What is the first song you ever heard by 47?
Do Make Say Think--Classic Noodlanding. Great song!
24. What is your favourite album by 45?
Primus--AHHHHH, THE GOOD OL' DAYS. Definitely gotta say Pork Soda. Their darkest and best album.
25. What is your favourite song by 18?
Das Oath--I don't know. The only album I have by them kinda flows through all the songs without stopping. Which one has that really cool riff? Let's see...
Ok. It's Tightened, Solidified, Cracking. Kick ass.
26. What is the first song you ever heard by 38?
PsyOpus--Death, i.... Best intro ever.

29. What was the first song you ever heard by 32?
Some Girls--I honestly have no idea. Sorry. What a let-down.
30. What is you favourite song by 8?
Dystopia--Population Birth Control: HUMANS DON'T DIE OFF, WE FUCKING MULTIPLY!
31. How many times have you seen 26 live?
Liars--None, unfortunately. Though after their latest album, I'm not sure I'd want to...
32. Is there a song by 44 that makes you happy?
Tom Vek--If You Want. sExY aZz BaSs~*~*
33. What is you favourite album by 9?
Tortoise--It's always been a toss-up between Tortoise and Millions Now Living Will Never Die. I just can't decide.
34. What is the worst song by 46?
Atheist--Uh...See You Again is pretty boring. So yeah, that one.
35. What was the first song you ever heard by 34?
Clark--New Year Storm whilst browsing through Warp's catalog on Bleep. Turning Dragon had just come out, so I decided to give it a listen. I'm glad I did!

Lightning Bolt
Lightning Bolt.
Muneshine
Der Zyklus
Gerald Donald.
