Whipping Cats: Yep once.
06. What's your favorite album from 10?

08. What is a good memory you have of 7?
Pixies: I gotta broken faceeeee uh huh uh huh

Rock Revival + Nostalgia
25 Jun 2008, 17:18 by alightedlamp
It's been a long time since I've taken the time to sift through my dusty collection of rock music. I've been so stuck with electronic music that browsing through my folder of alternative and rock was like looking through artists I hadn't heard of before. Though, as I started to play some of my old albums, flashes of nostalgia came back and I remembered why I used to love bands like At the Drive-In and Bear vs. Shark so much. As I get older, it's interesting to see the music that falls behind and the music that keeps up the continually growing rotations. Q and Not U and Death From Above 1979 are the longest remaining survivors, it seems. Modest Mouse will never fall out of rotation. Ever. Rotations mirror rotations of thought.
After taking a look at people twice my age or my parents who either don't listen to music or only listen to one band, I can't help but wonder if I'll still enjoy music as much as I do now or if the remaining musicians will stay part of a rotation. I know that's something that's better left alone, but I'll just blame it on nostalgia, of looking forward.
I hope the rotation doesn't fall apart. -

insult your top artists
28 May 2008, 22:07 by evesummernight
this normally is 10 artist. but i'm bumping it up because of my. well. proclivity for mediocrity...
1) Brand New: oh, you progressed so well into overproduction land! you also think you're too cool for school.
2) Explosions in the Sky: Think they can play their post-rock card for another few years. They haven't done anything innovative in years.
3) Weezer: Oh god. Rivers Cuomo. You suck. You are the most pathetic trash I've seen since Three Days Grace. I haven't listened to your new album, but if it's as good as Beverly Hills. I aughta go over and kill you myself.
4) Cursive: your new shit sucks. greta was key to keeping you all on the edge. quit making movies tim fucking kasher, because, well. you were better at making cd's.
5) Death Cab for Cutie: Ugh. Seriously. You're getting to be as whiny sounding as Bright Eyes. That's not a good thing.
6) The Promise Ring: You broke up. I saw your last show. It was really good. Very Emergency will never be worth fact i lent out my vinyl copy of wood/water for very and never got wood/water back. Ever.
7) Jawbox - You thought that going to atlantic was going to make your careers better? Sure savory was a good song, but no one remembers it's time on mtv.
8) Bear vs. Shark - Your music is so difficult to play along to. You also broke up before I ever saw you. I will force you to reunite like I tend to do. At knife point.
9) The Felix Culpa - When the band stopped screaming and being so gently aggressive. It just went downhill. The balance was great, but the new production just blew, when they lost their aggressiveness, it was over.
10) The Smiths - Morrissey is so god damn gay. Jon Marr plays for fucking modest mouse. WHY IS THIS SO BAD!
11) The Faint - I swear, my biggest complaint is bands put out two good albums, and then that's it. The faint is another.
12) The Get Up Kids - Created such god damn poppy music your ashamed of liking. Like the starting line, only not as stupid.
13) Cap'n Jazz - Boring. Boring music. Really, it's so influential it's like, melodramatic. It doesn't do anything other than say. Whoa. That's fuckin strange. It isn't even like good. It just is.
14) Moss Icon - Lyrically made as much sense as a doped up Cedric Bixler. Guatamala? WTF?
14) Northstar - Horrible production. The quality of the first album was terrible, the song quality of the second album was terrible. Like Mineral, only not nearly as good. Probably the worst usage of a 5150 ever.
16) Q and Not U - Everything got boring very quickly after no kill no beep beep, nothing made you want to jump out of your seat. Except for air conditions.
17) Orchid - SPEED IT UP FASTER I CANT HEAR YOU OR MAKE OUT ANYTHING YOUR PLAYING.
18) At the Drive-In - THESAURUS-CORE!
19) Jawbreaker - this is a punk band not a: lets suck our friends dicks band. i want to hear anger, show me more dag nasty and less neil diamond.
20) Elliott - you did a lousy job of picking a name. Whenever i mention you, everyone always says: you mean elliot smith? and i say, no. like fuckin louisville man.
21) Radiohead - absolutely overrated. absolutely absolutely the most overrated band on the earth next to the beatles. good but not god.
21) Mogwai - you're not angry enough. i don't like knowing you're not going to snarl at me when you play music. you have no edge. like a dull knife.
23) Saetia - sure there's a line between lo-fi and shit. this is like, straddling that line.
24) Mineral - You're gutwrenching, yes. But you also are so hard on the ears. SO EMO.
25) Funeral Diner - You don't build as good as my band does.
26) Belle and Sebastian - You are the name of Zach Galifianakis' Balls.
26) Indian Summer - No one understand you. Seriously, for some people this was the first record they listened to. This probably ruined their lives.
28) ...And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead - why is your name so long. you also think your pretty much the bees knees because you got a 10 from pitchfork. not cool.
29) Atmosphere - you're a little to bro-y... i don't think i can ever relate to you personally.
30) Braid - Bob Nanna. You're fuckin weird.
31) Elliott Smith - You spawned legions of idiots with your death. Not as many as kurt cobain, but enough to drive me nuts with their finger-picking soft-vocals idiocity.
32) Say Anything - You appeal to twelve year old girls for sex.
33) The Ghost - I think I had proxy sex with you brian moss. and because of that, i'm scared of what diseases i have.
34) Pedro the Lion - You broke up with yourself. Fucked up. You shoulda stayed together to hate on the christians more.
35) The Jazz June - i don't actually listen to you. I listen to one song and then forget your on.
36) Iron & Wine - You also created more idiots trying to play simply without being good. Imitation and Flattery are both stupid
36) Sufjan Stevens - way overplayed. way. way. way. enough to make even me sick of listening to sufjan.
38) The Fall of Troy - Thought they were all so cool with their fast tapping sections. But. Really, it's now so passe that they keep doing it.
38) HORSE the band - It's like THE ohio state university, who the fuck cares if you capitalize the first word of your name. It's like shitty punctuation marks in your name.
40) ZAO - I could make fun of you for the aformentioned, but, really, the worst thing that can be said about you was that parade of chaos and your s/t weren't that great, and you're so god damn underappreciated in the metal scene for basically building the underlying death metal in the states.
41) Hoover - Fred Erskine. I hate you. I wish I had a rig that sounds like yours. You make me so god damn jealous every time i listen to you.
42) The Number Twelve Looks Like You - Whenever I bring up you to metal fans, no one cares because you're absolutely ridiculous. Pretty much like me, I can care less for you. But, it's what happens.
43) Fear Before the March of Flames - that's funny that these two are right next to each other, i listened to them every day at work and stopped listening to them because it got boring after listening to the same 'crunch' sound day in day out.
44) The Nation of Ulysses - You weren't as good as Jawbox. You also never gathered that nervous energy that native nod did that made them like, way better.
45) Shotmaker - I can't remember a single track you've done. It's not that... No it is that none are memorable. They're good. But nothing special.
45) Evergreen - Jason Boesel. You may have played for evergreen. but you ruined your life by playing with Conor Oberst.
47) Pavement - You were pretty legendary 10 years ago. But that's because everyone was sick of listening to nirvana and proclaimed you gods. your music doesn't stand up to time. at all.
48) Circle Takes the Square - You don't put out material with any consistancy (see ever). I also want to play with you.
49) Underoath - Their first lineup was the best. When they were actually a metal band. And didn't have a keyboard. And don't suck donkey dick like they did on all those shitty labels.
50) Bright Eyes - Conor Oberst. You are a dirty dirty person. I hope you rot in hell and will never see the sun. You've pretty much have done more for the downfall of humanity than like, pop punk ever has. You've made the most talentless losers and pricks into pseduo-gods with their 'art making machine'. Quit doing so many drugs and realize how pathetic your life really is. Sheesh. -
50 Questions about My Top 50 Artists
25 May 2008, 17:11 by megl42
1. How did you get into 29?
Gnarls Barkley
We played Crazy endlessly at work, and we sort of felt it was our theme song. The best moment came when Karen and I were outside on a break with our headsets, and Larry told us to turn them up, and then just held his mic up to a speaker so we could blast it outside and scare all the various passerby.
2. What was the first song you ever heard by 22?
