November 2004, the first annual UK Music Hall Of Fall induction ceremony takes place. As Queen are inducted, surviving active members Brian May and Roger Taylor (without bassist John Deacon who retired from the music business in 1997) play the band’s double A-side hits, ‘We Will Rock You’ and ‘We Are The Champions’, complete with former Free and Bad Company frontman Paul Rodgers. The reaction is immense and the crowd waits in eager anticipation for the return of the act as they close the show with Free’s classic, ‘All Right Now’, with a little help from The Polyphonic Spree. Instantly, many music fans across the globe secretly hope for a long awaited return of rock’s reagal performers after an 18-year abstinence from the touring circuit.

By January of 2005, Roger Taylor admitted to German television that the new band would be touring Europe in Spring and Summer of that year, under the name of Queen + Paul Rodgers. The full line up included original Queen members May (guitar, vocals) and Taylor (drums, vocals) as well as former The Pretenders and Brian May Band member Jamie Moses (guitar, vocals), former Blue Öyster Cult man Danny Miranda (bass, vocals), Queen’s 1986 tour keyboard player Spike Edney (keyboards, vocals) and Paul Rodgers (vocals, occasional guitar). Over the course of 2005, the band played in all major European countries as well as the Aruba Festival, dates in Japan and two shows in the U.S.A. The band embarked upon a large scale tour of Northern America during Spring 2006.

@rebeliant. Queen + PR is fantastic. Ofcourse without Freddie it cant be perfect, but Rodgers is a great singer.

I like Rodgers, he's a great singer but unfortunately he pushes the band into a direction that both Roger and Brian were already kinda pushing.. which is rock with a bit of blues and that's, for me, the problem because Queen worked perfectly when each member tried to push the band into their own different styles and what came out of that was what was so good! Like this they just sound like another rock'n'roll bluesy band with some really cheesy lyrics here and there :P still love the guys though! and bought the album!

Zim Zum86. it's NOT about anyone's sexuality. Queen 2008 sound very heterosexual and that's alright with me, and that was VERY cool yesterday in Mannheim. Queen in 1974 was a tad different though;) or are you deaf? ;) that was camp!!!! Glam. Today it's classic rock/ rock n roll. I like both styles. Glam/Camp and Rock n Roll. People should not take comments sooo personally and be pissed if one writes his or her opinion. It's all only meaningless chatting and kindafun. Take it easy folks and enjoy live!!!!!!!!!

Saw them live in concert, and own both albums - fantastic stuff if you're a fan of either Bad Company/Free and Queen. I appreciate that all members were respectful enough of the late great Freddie Mercury to have it be "Queen PLUS Paul Rodgers" - purposefully noting that Paul is a add-on to the band, and NOT a replacement. Great stuff, I hope they put out a couple more.

Paul is good, but he cant replace Freddie. But if they had to replace him, Paul was a good choice.

What's the deal with all the people that have to make the point that Paul is straight and Freddie was gay, and that this shift somehow matters?

Freddie Mercury used to have an unique and fantastic voice, but Paul Rodgers did an amazing job. It's not the same "Queen", but still good.

BM: In a sense the public is always there. Yes, we're very lucky with that as well. People supported us all through these, sometimes difficult, times and we feel a great connection with our fans because of that. It's great. As far as accepting Paul Rodgers, some did and some didn't. Some people were outraged at the idea that we could play with someone else and continue our lives, and some people were completely supportive, and you'll see the supportive ones tonight, because the other people stay away - which is fine. They wanna have the old Queen and they don't wanna have to be changed. But they can stay at home and listen to their records, and that's cool.

I miss Freddy!!!.. This music is very empty without him... Didn't fulfill my expectations... didn't like Paul's voice too... it's very common type of voice... Once again this reminded how unique Freddy is...

I grew up a die-hard Queen fan, cranked their records to 11 for years. I could also appreciate Free and Bad Company, to a much lesser extent. But I really like this combination, it's like top -quality covers of Queen, these guys are doing justice to these great tunes. But of course I still miss Freddie being in this world. I appreciate Paul's approach to the tunes, I think it's respectfully personal.
