1) A Swedish depressive black metal band
2) A Norwegian experimental jazz group
3) A defunct British indie band
4) Julian Beeston, an electronic musician
5) A Polish experimental death metal band
1. A Swedish depressive black metal band originally formed back in 1996 by Kvarforth. Their lyrical themes are based on depression , suicide and angst, and their live performances contain large amounts of self-mutilation that they invite the audience to take part in.
Current line-up is:
Kvarforth (Vocals), Fredric Gråby (Lead Guitars), Peter Huss (Rhythm Guitars), King (Bass), Richard Schill (Drums)
2. A Norwegian band. It started as an experimental jazz group in 1998, and has since evolved to include jazz/metal/progressive sounds. Winner of the Alarm Award in both 2006 (for “In The Kingdom Of Kitsch You Will Be A Monster”) and 2007 (for “Grindstone”).
Current members are:
* Jørgen Munkeby: sax, guitar, Akai EWI and vocals
* Torstein Lofthus: drums
* Andreas Ulvo: synths and keyboards
* Morten Strøm: bass
* Even Helte Hermansen: guitars
3. There was a British indie band who went by the same name formed by former members of the Verve minus Richard Ashcroft. This is noticeable in their music which sounds similar to early Verve. They released a couple of singles, most notable the song “Danger”, and an album, “True Skies” in 2002. Little more was heard from them since.

It appears that Shining pulled a Carcass on us. Now we will argue about the error over and over, until the end of the Internets. Woorah!

Aw, are you really going to educate me in my own language? I googled "Yttligare" and what I got was either Shining related stuff, or links to blogs and whatnot - where the authors misspelled more than just that word and often failed to use proper punctuation. I've been a speaker/writer/listener/reader of Swedish for more than 18 years, it's -not- a shortened and easier version of the original word.

"Sure, Kvarforth must have a thought behind it, but no logical one." "Gonna" is a shortened and easier to say version of "going to." "Yttligare" is a shortened and easier to say version of "Ytterligare" that is apparently used by many people both when typing and speaking, so there's plenty of logic there. It's the correct song title anyway, which is why I shouted about it in the first place.

Oh my fucking god, it is one of the most kicking ass bands I've ever heard.

Sorry, Malvery, it's not like words such as "gonna" or "wanna". One, gonna and wanna are two words combined. Two, there is no reason in the world why Ytterligare should be "Yttligare". Sure, Kvarforth must have a thought behind it, but no logical one.

Malvery wrote:
Yes, it's a misspelling, much like words such as "gonna" and other terms created by the way people have learned to say certain words. It's still the correct song title.

DVD, nao. Rather silly to misspell "Ytterligare", although I think the real "war" should be fought against ignorant people who think that "Laat Oss Ta Allt Fraan Darandra" is the correct title.
-
Bergatroll wrote:
No matter how you pronounce it, it's still spelled "ytterligare". So it's in the end just a misspelling.

This fails at being emo/screamo/post-hardcore because of superior bands like Fugazi, At the drive-in, Saetia, Orchid. This is horrible experimental doom metal/rock with some remaining blcak metal touches, while older stuff is the classic SDBM Burzum ripoff. One of the worst bands ever, along with Opeth and Mastodon.

Yttligare .. *shakes head* Well, we don't pronounce "er" here in the south so either he wanted to spell it as it sounds or he was drunk o.o

Well apparently that's the pronunciation that Kvarforth uses.

lulz at the "My favorite emo band" comment

Bergatroll wrote:
It is not slang. It is indeed the result of common poor pronunciation which has led to the frequent misspelling like you suggested.

Malvery wrote:
I know full well what I responded to. I also know full well that Kvarforth created the layout, and from Google I've determined that this apparent misspelling of the word is apparently very commonly used by people talking about things outside of Shining song titles. I'm assuming it's a form of slang or a common very poor way of saying the word.

Bergatroll wrote:
Malvery, you responded to "Ytterligare" right? You do realize that yttligare is not even a word? I do not own Halmstad (I really wish I could afford buying every album I like) but it could be as you say, a misprint.
