Smash Mouth is an alternative rock band from San Jose, California that formed in 1994, the band comprises Steve Harwell (lead vocalist), Greg Camp (guitarist/songwriter), Paul De Lisle (bassist), and new drummer since early 2006, Jason Sutter (replacing Michael Urbano, who left due to creative differences). Their hit songs include “Walkin’ on the Sun” (1997) and “All Star” (1999).

Focused at times playing “neo-ska” music, the band has adopted retro styles spanning several decades of popular music, as well as performing covers of popular songs such as The Monkees’ “I’m a Believer” and War’s “Why Can’t We Be Friends” as well as cult favorites such as ? and the Mysterians’ “Can’t Get Enough of You Baby” (though their version owes more to The Colourfield’s interpretation; in fact, the band at first believed it was a Colourfield original).

Smash Mouth’s first album Fush Yu Mang came out in June 1997. This album could be said to be “neo ska”. Its top position in the charts was #19 (on Billboard). The promo for this album said that “While the twelve songs on Fush Yu Mang sound like they belong side by side, each has it’s own feeling like the very ‘60’s “

This band brings back memories of my childhood. Well before I became the death metal god I am today. Walkin' on the Sun is such an awesome track. Fush Yu Mang is such a brilliant album. I remember my mom thought these guys were offensive, because of the name. She didn't like the fact that I was into a band with that name. Probably because "smash" was in there and then mouth followed it and she meant the band likes smash people in the mouthes. Ridiculous I tells ya! Fush Yu Mang... I like the songs Lets Rock, The Fonz and Nervous in the Alley. The first few seconds of Nervous in the Alley like before the vocals come in really kicks ass. I also liked their next album, Astro Lounge. That was a superb record. My favorite song is Radio. I love the vocals and guitar in that song. The keyboard adds a nice touch to the song. Smash Mouth are just a brilliant alt. rock band that deserves a lot of credit in the alt. rock world. Not sure if I'm gonna scrobble these dudes. Maybe!!!

These guys were the first band I ever really got into, and really became obsessed with...I don't know if without them, I'd still be as obsessed with music as I am now. haven't listened to them in years, but they will always hold a special place for me because of that.
