A pun on the country singer Waylon Jennings, The Wailin’ Jennys are a Canadian folk music trio originating in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Founded in 2002, they consist of soprano Ruth Moody, mezzo Nicky Mehta, and alto Annabelle Chvostek, although they are adept at various instruments as well. They have since released three albums, one of which (40 Days) won them a Juno Award in 2005. The group is featured regularly on Garrison Keillor’s show A Prairie Home Companion.
