4 Aug 2007, 19:23 by BobbyDowns
hear it here: The Back C.C.'s.
I also setup a last page for the band: The Back C.C.'s.
And I'm pseudo managing them. Holler about shows in and around NYC!
Also I'm trying to book them a show with Jay Reatard in NYC if anyone can help out at all.
And just so I can direct people to this post, here goes some bands they like and sound like Teengenerate, Guitar Wolf, Reatards/The Reatards, Oblivians, Cheater Slicks, Supersnazz, Ramones, The Gories, The Hunches, Coachwhips, The Horrors(the U.S. ones), Black Lips, Reigning Sound, Tokyo Electron, The Lurkers, Thee Headcoats, The Milkshakes, Thee Mighty Caesars, The Buff Medways, Drags, Scratch Acid, and The Mummies.
Also I'm going to at some point get in touch with these labels if anyone can offer any help: In The Red, Goner and Bomp!. Any other recomendations would be appreciated. -
86% eclectic/extensively musically tasted

Take your top 20 artists. For each of these artists, collect the top 5 similar artists. The resulting number of unique artists is your eclectic score. If the score is small (extreme = 5) your musical preferences are very limited, and if it is large (extreme = 100), then you have an eclectic musical preference. You can compute your own score at http://anthony.liekens.net/pub/scripts/last.fm/eclectic.php
My eclectic score is currently
86/100

The idea is to go to the page of your number one artist, and follow the link of it's number one similar artist, then repeating that for this artist and so on, noting down each artist as you go. Do this until you've got to 50 artists (not including your number one). If you get any repeats, just go to the second similar artist or the nearest one that you haven't already had.
So, let's see where I end up...

Interesting... or wierd...
I started with Lasse Lindh anyway, but didn't think I would get to obscure swedish prog-music through what I believe are punk- and garagebands to lots of Spanish bands that I've never heard of...
Out of all the bands/artists in this list, I've listened to exactly 10, they're all in the top 15, and none of them are ones I listen to more than very rarely. -
New music

Here's a list of the new 7"s and LPs I've gotten my hands on recently.
7inches:
Mystery Girls - Under My Tongue
Mystery Girls - Turned On, Tuning In
Night Terrors - The Hit
Lightning Beatman - Beam Me Up Jesus
Mojomatics - Ballads In The Suitcase
Oblivians - Strong Come On
Tokyo Electron - Make Me Bleed
Catholic Boys - Actin' Stupid
Catholic Boys - Hurt To Hate
Headache City - Knee Jerk Reaction
Knaughty Knights - He's Gonna Get You
LPs:
King Khan - Mr. Supernatural
High Tension Wires - Send A Message
Fe Fi Fo Fums - Shake All Night
Hospitals - s/t
The Ponys - Celebration Castle
So far the only ones I've given good listen to are the Hospitals LP, which is amazing, King Khan's second album, which is also great and the Mystery Girls new 7", "Under My Tongue". Which has the incredible song "We're So Illegal" which I can only assume is about the band living illegally in Montreal (Canada) since... hm, it must be August by now.
Great stuff!
