A note about my recent tracks

31 Jan 2006, 14:32

You might notice that my recent tracks seem to repeat more often and are less reflective of what I have listened to more regularly in the past.

This is in large part to getting laid off, and using iTunes to listen to my collection rather than my iPod. The other is that I'm using Party Shuffle on a 'smartlist' of tracks played more than 5 times that are unrated.

The intent is that I will rate these tracks, though I don't always remember to do so and my memory of what I thought of a track gone by is pretty poor.

But, when you consider the reason I started this 'project' it makes even less sense.... A while back I bought an iPod Shuffle (which I only used a couple of times and now don't recall where I stashed it). In trying to decide what I should fill it with, I ended up creating a 'smartlist' of tracks played more than 10 times that are rated 3 or better.

There's current 750 tracks on that list (and rising)....I get around 128 tracks into my iPod Shuffle....I'm only using 50% of it for songs. Even though I don't currently use it for storage either....perhaps if I were to use it again, it should be 100% storage since the lack of sound check makes it pretty useless for listening to music. And, I haven't gotten into the audiobook thing.

FWIW, my unrated tracks 'smartlist' is down to 79 tracks....now 78....

Now if I had an iPod Nano....

Then you would have to listen to even more music, to get through even more tracks stored on the nano :)

I tried iTunes, but went back to Winamp, simply because I find it easier to use. Nothing wrong with iTunes, but I find making winamp lists easier. Or maybe, I just didn't give iTunes enough adjusting. I am always happier with things I get comfortable with.

I used to use Winamp, but because I became a Pod person...I made the switch to use iTunes.

Plus I went through all that work reripping my CD collection into AAC format....
