1. How did you get into 29?:
Peer pressure. I was fourteen, everyone else was doing it... "Muse and crack" saturdays are among my fondest memories.

2. What was the first song you ever heard by 22?:
Fucking hell, I don't know. Very possibly I Will Follow You Into the Dark; I remember downloading the video on my mobile phone because I thought "they're supposed to be good, aren't they?"

I'm kind of surprised they're so high up. There's only so much DCFC a man can take.

3. What's your favorite lyric by 32?:
I honestly have no idea. I don't listen to lyrics much... what? Don't look at me like that -- I think a lot of dull music can be made on the "lyrics above all" mantra.

Franz Ferdinand. The second one was just more of the same, only less so.

Three, although I have no idea where their first one has gone. I probably downloaded and deleted it by accident.

Inside and Out.

7. Is there a song by 39 that makes you sad?:
Ahaha, by CSS? Maybe Alcohol, but only because it's a low point on an otherwise-awesome album.

8. What is your favorite song by 15?:
The Mixed Tape; still one of my favourite songs after three years, like the album. I think it's one of the first albums I ever actually related to, as opposed to an "this album speaks to meee" kind of thing like what I used to get all the ladies back 'in the day.'

I don't do that any more. I don't think Andrew MacMahon has a particularly fitting voice for getting in the mood to.

High Fives, I think. It's rated highest on my iTunes, in any case.

10. How did you get into 6?:
I saw their name mentioned somewhere and bought Broken Social Scene because I was particularly affluent that week.

Left and Leaving. By alarming coincidence it is also the only Weakerthans album I have.

12. What is your favorite song by 10?:
I love the second album, and off that my favourite is Song For Clay (Disappear Here), so... I'll go with that.

Ha! I should lie and take them off my Top 50 for the Rule of Cool, shouldn't I. But that would be dishonest and that, frankly, is not the point of this meme.

I listened to Final Straw a lot when I was leaving home at 18, and I guess it reminds me of that.

Hold Music! But Red Turned White comes a close second. It's a very good album all round.

Um, only all of them!? Choosing one, though: A Modern Way of Letting Go.

Only once, so far, but she's on at Connect! Hurrah.

Like everyone else in the world I was introduced to The Shins by Garden State, so Caring Is Creepy and New Slang. Whichever comes first in that film.

Make Yourself, no contest. It comes just in between "weird experimental Incubus" and the point at which they totally sold out.

Oh, easily the bassist. Because it isn't just "E" at all.

20. Have you ever seen 14 live?:
Yes! My mum was late in picking me up after (I was 17 and in Manchester), and I got to meet Andrew MacMahon and William Tell. They thought I was a little weird; I wanted some hugs.

21. What is a good memory involving 27?
Leeds 2004, me and Phil in the middle of one of the few mosh pits I've been in at a festival. We got back and our Girlfriends At The Time were all worried. They just didn't get it.

I still like Dance, Dance despite myself.

Please Please Please, on the old, crapped-out CD player in my first flat.

Ooft. I know it should be Odelay, but I have a soft spot for Guero.

I have to choose a favourite? I just kind of... put them on in the background. I'll go with Snow and Lights because, again, it's rated highest and Past Jamie obviously knew what he was doing.

Easily Colour And The Shape. I only just got around to buying my own hard copy, too. I am ashamed.

Just the once, in the Garage up Glasgow way. They were... okay.

L.S.F. (Lost Souls Forever) stirs a whole lot of happy memories: abandoning my friend to see them the first time, moving to Glasgow, late-night chats with someone who became one of my best friends...

Elevator, a very summery and more mature affair than Make Up the Breakdown.

34. What is the worst song by 45?:
Hard to choose, but I'll go with Motorcycle Daydream. It's less inspired than the rest of the EP.

Salt Sweat Sugar. I soon got sick of it.

When I say soon, I mean like five years later. Jimmy Eat World are kind of a guilty pleasure of mine.

The Lost Riots. My first taste of a band brave enough to open with a prog instrumental and keep their imaginative spark alive for the rest of the album.

37. How many times have you seen 42 live?:
Never! I wanted to see them in December, but my friends all declined, except for Brown, and then we never got our act together.

38. What is your favorite song by 36?:
The Alternative To Love.

39. How did you get into 28?:
I bought their album on a whim, sort of: I was getting something else at the time, and I saw a sign advertising their acoustic set at the shop. I got to talking to the cashier, and they recommended it.

40. What is your favorite album by 7?:
Gimme Fiction is consistently the best of all Spoon's albums, although better songs can be found elsewhere.

41. Is there a song by 31 that makes you happy?:
Kim Wilde probably accounts for at least 60 of those 82 plays.

Little by Little was the album that propelled Harvey Danger above the ranks of Just Another Pop-Punk band.

I'm partial to Song With a Mission; it really starts Dying to Tell You This with a bang -- the proper way to do things!

Rebellion (Lies) is one of the last songs I heard in a Glasgow club before I moved away. I shook my booty extra-hard.

Maureen. It's just a fun song!

Buck Rogers: once, a friend and I actually did drink cider from a lemon lemon lemon lemon, and it wasn't all that great. For a start, you can't fit much cider in there. And that's to say nothing of the mess.

I know I should always go for a band's earlier work, but We Were Dead Before The Ship Even Sank is awesome, and has Dashboard on it!

What, Belle or Sebastian? I can't have both?

Billy Brown, about a year before his number 1. I'm the coolest person alive.
