Ha, I actually live in the States. My mom is English-born, but of French descent. Her brother and his wife and kids live in Montréal. I'm home on Thanksgiving break from university right now, but I certainly hope to stay in Mtl for a few days over winter break (the middle of December). I love it there.

Haha, that'd be an awesome stamp! I'm glad to see that you like Julie Doiron as well. She's lovely. I saw her play a little over a year ago with Calvin Johnson. So, you're from Montréal then? I have quite a bit of family there.

Actually, I have to admit I wondered for just a few seconds whether I mixed up the title ;-) I remember how happy I was after graduating, being able to read what I wanted to again and, even more important, to be able to return a book to the library when I don't like it because you don't have to pass an exam about it. As you, I've really enjoyed "The Adventures of Kavalier and Clay". I'm rereading "Wonder Boys", because I dread starting reading "The Yiddish Policemen's Union". I've read some very positive in the papers about that book, but also some very negative remarks from Dutch readers. I bought it earlier this year, and I'm a bit worried it'll turn out to be a disappointment...

About Me
"The younger ones were dressed in neat blue coats and one of them was watching him. Robert turned away, annoyed and confused. He was shy of girls, just now --distrusting them and wondering why they had to look at you and make you think you wanted them. Only a few weeks ago he had discovered he was not in love with Heather Lawson. Heather had behaved so inexplicably. What did women mean to do with men? At a party--in his own house--she'd told him that someone else was in love with her. Robert was not disturbed by this at all. What had someone else's being in love with her to do with him? But Heather Lawson wanted him to be disturbed. 'All right,' Robert said, 'who is it? Maybe then I'll be disturbed.' (He'd smiled.) 'It's Tom Bryant,' Heather said, 'and I think you ought to fight him.' Robert didn't understand. Bryant? Who was he? Did Heather Lawson love him? 'No,' she said, 'of course not.' 'Then why should I fight him?' Robert had to ask. 'Because he loves me,'she said. She spoke as if Robert were stupid. It all made perfect sense to Heather, but Robert thought it was idiotic and said so. Heather wailed out loud at that. Wailed and railed and paled. And fainted. In short-- she made 'a scene' of the sort then popular in the books of Booth Tarkington."
~from 'The Wars' by the late Timothy Findley.
Think the first artist I heard through the LastFM hollows was 'The Smiths'. With the revamping of the site, I like the way the light splits across the CD covers just like I remember it doing as a little guy with a new cassette and case in hand laying on the bed by the window.
The 10,000 track to play was The Silver Hearts "Last Days of Chez Nous". They hail from Peterborough, Ontario. 15,000 was Billy Bragg "North Sea Bubble".
