Top 15 Albums for 2007
7 Feb 2008, 14:38
01. Tunng - Good Arrows
I found this band last year on last.fm and have been addicted since. This album is so easy to listen to and on high rotation during my work day. Stand-out tracks are
Bullets (of course) and Clump (which is the bonus track on the CD, but I love it).
02. Blonde Redhead - 23
This was the first album I was addicted to this year... and I still love it.
03. Spoon- Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga
The album I was looking forward to the most this year. Whilst not as good as Gimme Fiction, it is still very cool. Plus I got to see them at Big Day Out which was awesome.
04. Minus the Bear - Planet of Ice
Another artist that I came across from looking at my neighbours playlists. This album rocks.
05. Caribou - Andorra
Melody Day is one of the stand out tracks of the year. This is an incredible album that needs to be listened to as a whole to be fully appreciated.
06. Iron & Wine - The Shepherd's Dog
This album grew on me.
Boy With A Coin got me listening, then every time I played the album I found soemthing else that I loved. Awesome.
07. Tegan and Sara - The Con
I think this is their best album to date. There are so many catchy tunes here it isn't funny.
08. Goon Moon - Licker's Last Leg
For those who don't know, Goon Moon consists of band members from QOTSA and Marilyn Manson. Like a good Ween or Mr Bungle album, you just don't know where this album is going next.
09. Air - Pocket Symphony
I was a little disappointed with this album at first, but it was definately a grower.
10. Menomena - Friend and Foe
A latecomer to the list, but a worthy one. After only a couple of listens I new this would make the list. My fave track is
My My.
11. Ryan Adams - Easy Tiger
While just missing out on the Top 10, I think this is his best effort for quite a while.
12. The Shins - Wincing the Night Away
Probably not as good as their previous records, it still wipes the floor with most other indie pop albums this year. Q. How good do these guys sound live? A. Amazing.
13. Silversun Pickups - Carnavas
Wow! It's like I was back in the '90s. Thanks guys.
14. Les Savy Fav - Let's Stay Friends
I had no idea this was coming out. Math rock at is best.
15. Kylie Minogue - X
Alright... spot the odd one out. What can I say apart from "I LOVE KYLIE", and I don't have to justify myself to you :)
